Banquet will feature ‘traditional African dishes,’ choir on Sunday night
In honor of African American Heritage Month, Minority Affairs is hosting a banquet at 5 p.m. Sunday in the University Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
“It’s a time of fun and coming together to share African American culture with others,” said Claudia Lane, coordinator of the banquet.
Food for the banquet will consist of a feast of traditional African dishes, Lane said. “We’ll have traditional African dishes, such as smothered chicken, fried catfish, collared greens, red beans and rice along with many others,” she said.
After dinner, the Ebony Choir from Indiana State University will provide entertainment.
Tickets are $6 for children ages 6 to 12 and students with an I.D. and $12 for the general public. Tickets can be bought in advance from the Eastern ticket office in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. After Thursday, tickets can be purchased from the office of Minority Affairs.
“We’re expecting a big turnout so get your tickets now,” Lane said.
